  1. INTRODUCTION

At Nubius Solutions, we provide customers with the flexibility to install and manage software on their hosting environments. However, it is essential to understand the distinction between software installation, updates, and upgrades, as well as the level of support provided under our Standard Support and Managed Services options.

 

  1. DEFINITIONS
  • Software Installation: The initial deployment of software or applications on a server.
  • Software Update: A minor release or patch that improves security, stability, or performance without significantly changing the software’s functionality (e.g., version 1.2 to 1.2.1).
  • Software Upgrade: A major release that introduces new features, requires system modifications, or significantly changes the software’s behavior (e.g., version 1.2 to 2.0).

 

  1. STANDARD SUPPORT (SELF-MANAGED SOFTWARE MAINTENANCE)

Customers using our standard hosting services are responsible for:

  • Installing, configuring, and managing their own software.
  • Applying software updates and upgrades as needed.
  • Ensuring software compatibility with OS and system configurations.
  • Monitoring security vulnerabilities and applying patches accordingly.

 

Nubius Solutions does not provide software installation, update, or upgrade assistance under standard support. However, if software maintenance issues arise, assistance may be available on a billable basis.

 

  1. MANAGED SERVICES (INCLUDES LIFECYCLE MANAGER)

For customers requiring automated and proactive software maintenance, our Managed Services include:

  • Automated software patching and updates through Nubius Lifecycle Manager.
  • Proactive security updates for supported software.
  • Version control and rollback strategies to minimize downtime.
  • Assistance with compatibility and system integration.

 

This service ensures that all installed software remains secure, up-to-date, and fully optimized.

 

  1. ADD-ONS FOR INSTALLED SOFTWARE

Customers subscribed to Managed Services may also purchase additional support for specific installed software, including:

  • Advanced software configuration and optimization.
  • Custom patching and security hardening.
  • Full software upgrade planning and execution.
  • Application dependency management and troubleshooting.

These add-ons provide tailored support for critical business applications and services.

 

  1. CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES

Regardless of the support level, customers must:

  • Ensure that software installations and updates comply with Nubius Solutions’ Acceptable Use Policy (AUP).
  • Maintain backups before applying updates or upgrades.
  • Monitor software end-of-life (EOL) status and plan accordingly.
  • Validate compatibility with their hosting environment before making significant changes.
